Location, props and costume

Location/props/costumes
The locations I will be using for my music and fashion magazine will be outdoors. This is because I think it will give a sense of realism to the pictures. Also, using the outdoors will let me experiment with different lightings and different backgrounds which will improve on the quality of the picture. Using the outdoors is also a plus as I will be able to match the colours of the setting with an outfit. In particular i will be using a park to take my pictures. This is because it will have different coloured trees, bushes, fences which will lead to a variety of pictures. The park is also a good place to use beacause it has a range of dark and light areas, depending on what kind of picture i am aiming for.

Using the outdoors links my target audience of being teenage girls as many teenagers like the freedom of the outdoors instead of the indoors and it is a place where teenagers can relax  and spend time with their friends.

Props will be kept to a bare minimal for my photos as I will be focusing on the person and the background rather than props. However, I may use the odd small prop. So not to distract I will use something like a jacket to hold or maybe my model might be holding some flowers.

Using flowers as a prop links to teenage girls as flowers are typically a female thing. Many girls like keeping flowers in their bedroom or wear clothes with a flower print, some girls even have flower print decorations in their rooms. Using a jacket as a prop would also suit teenage girls, as I will use a jacket that  is in trend at the moment and what teenage girls would want to wear.

The sort of clothing I will be using for my models will be things that are popular with the teenage female audience. The colour of the clothing I choose will be chosen according to where the picture will be taken as it will look more effective if it is colour coordinated.

The cosume/outfits I will use will be clothing that is popular and in trend with teenage girls at the moment.  For example I will be using items of clothing such as ripped jeans, baggy t-shirts, bomber jackets or tops that relate to females, maybe being a girly colour or by having writing that would relate to a teenage, female audience.

Fonts mood board analysis

The fonts I used for my fonts mood board I have used in order to attract my target audience. On my mood board I used a variety of fancy and ordinary fonts as for my magazine I used a mixture of both. For my title on the front cover and the contents page I have used the font Magneto, as this font is very stylistic and would appeal to my target audience of teenage girls. I chose to use Magneto rather than an ordinary font as I think this gives my magazine its own house style and uniqueness and adds to the appearance of my magazine. For my cover lines on my front cover I used the font Elephant. I decided to use this font as it is a fairly bold font so therefore it will stand out to my target audience as they will be able to read the main stories really easily. On my contents page and article I used the font Bell MT. This font I decided was the best choice as it is a simple yet effective font and would be really easy for the audience to read and understand. However although they were the same font, on my contents page the font was in italic and on my article the font in regular. I did this in order to fit the style of the page I was trying to create. For the title on my article I used the font Cooper Std. This was to differentiate the title to the main body of text and used to make the title stand out more as it was a bolder font.

Colour mood board analysis

I have used four main colours on my mood board that consist of red, blue, black and white. I have used these particular colours as these are the colours that were most popular on my questionnaire. I have used white and black on my mood board as these colours will help to give my magazine a more professional and classy look and therefore look more appealing for my target audience of teenage girls. The colours red and blue I will use on my magazine to brighten up the magazine and make it stand out more to the audience. On my mood board I have used images that would appeal to me target audience. Images of lips and flowers for example are very feminine and therefore would appeal to females which are my target audience. Images of doc martens, converse and sweets I have used to fit the teenage generation. On my front cover I have used the colours Black, blue and white for the cover lines and the title. I have used these three colours for the text as the black and white make the magazine look formal and professional whereas the blue brightens up the appearance of the magazine. The colours on my front-cover, all co-ordinate which helps improve the visual style of my magazine. In addition, on the model I have purposely used red lipstick to dress the formality of the page down and therefore make it more suitable for my target audience of teenagers. Over all three pages of my magazine, I have used the same four colours. Using the same colours throughout my magazine give it my own housesyle and uniqueness and would make my magazine more identifiable in the markets.

So my target audience my fashion and music magaine is going to be aimed at teenage girls between the age of around 16-17. (couid be a bit younger or a bit older.) My third question was asking them to select three colours out of the choices I gave them, that they would like to see on a fashion and music magazine. The top three were white, earning 100% of the votes, black which recieved 44.4% and blue which also recieved 44.4%. Question number 4, was how often do you want the magazine to be published out of the choices I gave. Once a month came out top at 33.33% of the voting. My next question to ask the audience was how much would you pay for a music and fashion magazine. Out of the options i gave them £2 was the most popular choice at 33.33% of the votes. My next question was an open response question, asking if there are any bands in particular that they would like to see feature on a music and fashion magazine. Lots of my respondents in particular said they would like to see current girl/boy bands in the magazine. Bands such as Union J and Little Mix, which were both mentioned will be included in my magazine. Question number 7, was asking on their importance please rate these magazine features. The features that came out most important were information on any gigs/tours coming up, top of the charts, new song releases and the latest fashion trends. Therfore, i will make sure that I include these in my magazine. My 8th question was asking what people would like a fashion and magazine to look like. 44.4% of the voters, which was the most popular said they would like a fashion and music magazine to look classy and professional. My 9th question, which was one of the most important questions, was what would they like the name of my fashion and music magazine to be called. The most popular out of the choices I gave people was fusion, which recieved 44.4% of the votes. My final question was another open answer question was just simply asking people is there any other information or ideas they would like to see or add to improve the concept of the magazine. The responses I recieved were just telling me that I should make sure people would want to read it, so to make my magazine interesting enough that people would notice it and would like to buy it.

Original ideas statement

My magazine is going to be a music and fashion magazine. I have chosen to do a magazine that will appeal to teenage girls around the age of (15-19), as I fit into this age bracket so therefore I know the sort of things they would like to find in a magazine. The music part of my magazine will include lots of pop and indie artists, however the main focus is to highlight any new or upcoming songs (mainly part of the pop genre) as many teenagers in general like to keep up to date with what’s top of the charts. Also the purpose of my magazine is to keep teenage girls up to date with the most popular artists and any new singers or bands that are likely to interest the young female generation.

I have chosen to do fashion and beauty as this is something that interests me so therefore making this sort of magazine is the best option. Also, doing fashion and beauty in a magazine clarifies what my target audience is for my magazine is as well as the gender. Teenage girls would be more likely to be attracted to my magazine if it included aspects of fashion and beauty, as well as music, as teenagers care a lot about their appearance and therefore would be helpful to read any tips and advice.
