student magazine questionnaire results

Student magazine questionnaire results
Out of the people we surveyed, 90% of people said they haven’t read the student magazine. This means that the product doesn’t work and it is not meeting the needs of the target audience. Therefore, it is likely that the audience don’t read the magazine because it is not interesting enough or doesn’t include things that they would look for in a college magazine.

The top 5 colours that students would like to see on the student magazine: black, white, red, green and blue. I think the students chose the colours black and white as this gives the magazine a more serious and professional look, linking to the aim of the magazine to be aimed at college students. The colours red, green and blue were very popular colours. I think this is because these particular colours help to brighten the magazine and stand out more to the audience. Also, this stops the magazine looking really boring and is more likely to draw students to read the magazine.

The people we surveyed were quite indecisive of how often they wanted the magazine to be published. 30% of the people asked said they wanted the magazine to be issued every month also a further 30% wanted it every term along with 20% that wanted it to be issued every fortnight. I have chosen the magazine to be every month as it is in-between every term and every fortnight. Also, we would gain more profit from issuing the magazine every month rather than every term as the magazine would only be issued three times a year if it was every term.

From the results we received we decided that our magazine would cost 50p. 40% of people said they wanted the magazine to cost nothing. However, this means that 60% of people said they would pay. 20% of people said they would pay 50p for the magazine and this was the highest percentage of people who said they would pay so this was the best option.

The next question we asked on our questionnaire was what students would like to see on the front cover of our magazine. The top 5 outcomes were: music, fashion, competitions, food and revision. Lots of students may like the magazine to include revision as they may want tips and advice on certain subjects if they need help with them. Music is very popular with teenagers, so therefore they would be more interested in the magazine if it included things about top of the charts and new bands/artists. Fashion is mainly popular with females as they may want to find out about the latest trends and what to wear in college. Lots of people will have chosen food for several reasons, such as: what food do they sell in college, or recipes for things. Competitions could be popular as it gives people a chance to try for something or a chance to win something for the college.

Our next question was would people like freebies. 95% of people said they would. This is because if the magazine has something free in it this would encourage people to buy the magazine and therefore we would gain more profit.

70% of people we surveyed said they would want a student on the front of the magazine. Having a student could inspire other students as its gives sense from the picture what college life is like.

80% of students said they would like the magazine to be multi-platform. I think the reason being is that this makes it easier for students to get to know about the college magazine.

In our questionnaire, 75% of students said they wanted adverts. Having adverts in the magazine gives the magazine more variety and therefore makes the magazine more interesting for students.

People said they would like to receive the magazine either in the coffee shop or reception area. This is likely to be because it is easy to get to and quite a central place in the college where lots of people are usually hang around during the day.
